When you think of Home Automation, most people immediately think rich and wealthy. In the past that was true but today, with the help of devices you most likely already won, home automation is for just about anyone. From dimming and setting timers on lights to controlling your very own robot, yes I said robot, Home Automation can be lazily convenient and save you money at the same time. So peeps, buckle up, put your imagination into over drive and join us in this brief introduction to Home Automation.
What is Home Automation? I suppose that's a good place to start. Home Automation is the residential extension of "Building Automation." Home Automation is the automation of the home, housework or household activity. Automation includes, but is definitely not limited to, lighting, HVAC, appliances, pet feeders, and entertainment equipment like your TV and surround sound. While this may seem like another way to make us all fat and lazy, the benefits for others can be extraordinary. Elderly people can have their quality of life significantly increased with the help of automating some simple tasks like drawing the curtains or just turning off the lights.
In the past, Home Automation required that the user invest in very expensive controllers, key pads, and monitors in order to manage the automation. Today, almost everyone has the controller on them at all times and they dont even know it. The smart phone is just that, when it comes to Home Automation, it's smart. It's so smart that it can control dynamic lighting, advanced security system control, arm and disarm security systems, thermostat control, whole home wireless audio, and entertainment system control. All of this can be done from within the home or anywhere in the world as long as you have an internet connection. Controller software is available for almost every smart phone on the market. The most popular, of course, is that for the iPhone and iPad. For Android users, all the same features and control is available to you also. If you forget your phone at home, which we all do, you can also use a laptop or your workstation at work to log into your home and make changes to your systems. I find this most useful when I am away from home and it gets extremely hot outside. I'm able to log into my home and turn the AC on for my Shih-Tzus.
G&G Network Design and Cabling, LLC is excited to have the ability to automate our, and our clients, homes. Nothing is more convenient then being able to control the climate an hour before I get home, pan, tilt, and zoom security cameras to see what my dogs are doing, turn the lights on, and feed my dogs, from my iPhone. Once I get home I am able to play my iTunes music throughout my home, control the ambiance, draw my curtains, pick a movie on Apple TV, and control the automatic screen and projector of our theater, all from my iPhone. From any phone with an internet connection and from anywhere in the world, stay in control of what maters most in your life.
