After I updated my "Jesus Machine" AKA MacBook Pro to the latest flavor of exotic animal operating system software, Lion, I ran into some very frustrating problems. I know what you're thinking, it's an Apple. Apple and problems do not belong in the same sentence. It seems over the past few years, God, I mean Steve Jobs, has built a product that can do no wrong. If something happens to your Apple product, it's because of something you did obviously. Well it seems that allure is slowly becoming tainted with some of Apples latest releases. iOS 5 was "So Amazing" and "Can do anything you can do on a laptop." We also found out that it will use as much juice as a laptop too. I had to carry my car charger around town while making my client rounds. The latest patch for iOS 5 is supposed to have fixed this but I only installed it last night so I have yet to put the phone through the vigorous obstacle course that tests both man and electronic device that I also call my daily life. That's for another blog. This blog is about these stuck temp directories that show up in your favorites bar on Lion.
If you're like me, you've been burnt in the past by not backing up your machine and now you are like the Gestapo of time machine. I have to have my backups and time machine, which has its flaws itself, is the only application I have put the time into using. The problem is that Time Machine creates a temporary directory that it stores the backup data to. This directory somehow gets put into your favorites sidebar and if your backups are quite large like mine tend to be, often times you close your MacBook before the backup is complete. This can cause the Jesus Machine to freeze that directory and name it something weird, like Disciple names, as you can see in the featured image. This directory is unclickable, unusable, undeleteable, and any other un-name that is not apart of the English dictionary too. If you have ran into this frustrating situation, HAVE NO FEAR! I have a fix for this Ladys and Gents. Before I get to that, what did you guys think of the Manny Pacquiau vs Juan Manuel Marquez fight from this past weekend. My Mexican compadre and fellow Mexicutioner Mr. Juan Manuel Marquez simply got robbed. Please leave your thoughts in the comment section BELOW.
Without further adieu, simply hold down the Mac "command" button next to the space bar, click on the frozen directory, and drag the directory out of the finder window. Make sure you do all of this while holding down the "command" button on your particular Jesus Machine, I mean MacBook.
